Penn State Houston COVID19 Volunteer Opportunities

Even though we cannot gather together during the COVID19 outbreak, there are a variety of opportunities available to our Penn State Houston alumni family to continue our community stewardship and help others. Below is a list of those opportunities, and we encourage you, if you are able and well, to participate.  If you do choose to participate, please follow all local government and health recommendations.

Volunteer at the Houston Food Bank
  • Houston Food Bank is America’s largest food bank in distribution, leading hunger relief in 18 southeast Texas counties. They are in desperate need of volunteers, and you can register for a volunteer shift here. Remember to bring your own mask to volunteer and follow their health and safety guidelines.
  • If you cannot volunteer, you can still give to this worthy organization. Click here for further information.

Volunteer for Project Cure
  • Project Cure is the world’s largest distributor of donated medical relief—touching the lives of children and families in more than 130 countries.  If you would like to volunteer with this worthy cause, click here.
  • If you cannot volunteer, you can donate PPE or other medical equipment here, or you can donate funds to their organization here.

Give blood at Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center
  • The center has seen a tremendous response in our community to their call for help, but their work is not over. Blood donors are needed to give now and in the future consistently. To make an appointment to give, click here.
