Penn State Houston Executive Panel

​We are excited to announce that we will be hosting a Penn State Alumni Executive Career Panel and Networking Event on TBD at TBD.  The panel will be focused on the challenges currently facing the energy industry.  Our panelists will discuss their thoughts on the current business environment before we open it up to Q&A.  We are appreciative of the following confirmed panelists who have made time in their busy schedule to join us for the evening:

Shelley Corman Frisby - Vice President of Business Development, Boardwalk
Reggie Hedgebeth - Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Chief Administrative Officer, Marathon Oil

The panel will be held in the 50th floor living room of Chevron’s downtown office at 1400 Smith Street, Houston, Texas 77002.
Registration for the event is $10 for members and $15 for non-members.  This will include dinner at the event.  Additional event details will be sent via email upon registration.  The registration deadline for the event is TBD.

Reggie Hedgebeth

Reggie Hedgebeth is executive vice president, general counsel and chief administrative for Marathon Oil Corporation (NYSE: MRO), an independent exploration and production company based in Houston, Texas with operations in the United States and Africa. He is responsible for Marathon Oil’s legal, human resources, compliance, communications, government affairs and corporate facilities teams. 

Mr. Hedgebeth most recently served as general counsel, corporate secretary and chief ethics and compliance officer for Spectra Energy Corp and general counsel for Spectra Energy Partners, roles he assumed in 2009 and 2013 respectively. Previously, he served as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary for Circuit City Stores, Inc. and vice president of legal for The Home Depot, Inc. 

Mr. Hedgebeth began his legal career as an associate at King and Spalding, LLP and prior to law school held various finance and commercial real estate positions at GE Capital. He graduated with honors from Harvard Law School and Penn State University. 

Mr. Hedgebeth currently serves on the board of directors and as chair of the Audit & Ethics Committee for The Brink’s Company (NYSE: BCO), as a director of Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS) in Houston, as a member of the Investment Committee of the Memorial Hermann Health System, and a member of the external advisory board of the Schreyer Honors College at Penn State. He previously served as fundraising co-chair for the United Way of Greater Houston’s Legal Initiative and the Ensemble Theatre’s Founders Circle, and on the boards of the William Byrd Community House in Richmond, Virginia and the Urban League of Greater Atlanta. 

​Mr. Hedgebeth was named a “General Counsel to Watch” by Corporate Boardmember Magazine, was a recipient of the Houston Business Journal’s Best General Counsel Award, and was named an Outstanding Scholar Alumnus by the Schreyer Honors College at Penn State.

Shelley Corman Frisby

Shelley Corman Frisby is Vice President of Business Development for Boardwalk Pipeline Partners.    

​Ms. Frisby has 35 years of experience in business development, commercial operations and regulatory affairs for midstream pipelines. Her expertise includes pipeline expansion projects, deal origination, midstream agreements & negotiations, FERC rate & certificate regulation and commercial operations.

She previously led the commercial operations of Energy Transfer’s interstate pipelines and has held positions at Howard Energy, Transcontinental Gas Pipeline, Enron and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. She holds a B.S. in Mineral Economics from Pennsylvania State University, as well as an MBA and a J.D. from the University of Houston. 


Dave Payne

James David (Dave) Payne, 59, is Vice President, Health, Environment and Safety, for Chevron Corporation, a position he has held since 2018. He is responsible for leading Health, Environment and Safety including strategic planning and issues management, compliance assurance, and emergency response. He also is responsible for Chevron’s Environmental Management Company, which manages environmental remediation and abandonment liabilities.

Previously Payne was vice president of Drilling and Completions since 2006.  Prior to that, he was the drilling manager in Bangkok, Thailand.  

Payne has held various engineering and management positions in California, Louisiana, Trinidad and Tobago, Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand.

Payne is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and has served in various roles for local chapters including section chairman in Santa Maria, California.

​Payne joined Getty Oil Company in Santa Maria, California in 1981. He earned a bachelor’s degree in petroleum and natural gas engineering from Pennsylvania State University in 1981
